COPPER CARE INSTRUCTIONS
My copper creations are built to last and made to go in soil. Keep in mind that your copper will naturally develop a unique patina over time. To maintain the quality and longevity of copper, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Dents and Scratches. Copper is naturally a soft, malleable metal, and therefore susceptible to a ding here and there. Do not intentionally bend.
- Oxidation and Patina. Copper will naturally tarnish in color with time and environment. Keep in mind of soil contents and any other liquids including oils, salts, and fertilizers as these may further darken and/or color the surface of copper.
- Gets Heated. Copper is a great heat conductor. Beware of extremely hot weather.
- Shining and Cleaning. I recommend handwashing with a mildly abrasive sponge and to build up to desired effect of luster. Pat dry. All my copper wares are sealed in natural linseed oil and beeswax for water resistant protection.
